Tribes 2 Classic 1.5 Released
Posted by: Celios on Monday, May 10, 2004 - 07:13 PM
Classic 1.5 has been released by ZOD. Among some decent bug fixes he has also added some very questionable gameplay changes. Unfortunately, this will likely lead to a huge division and variation in what people play since each of the new changes is optional. We will likely be seeing mix-and-match servers popping up soon which is probably the last thing this community needs. In any case, you can get classic_v15.zip using that link.

Some of the changes include:

Tribes: Vengeance Jump Tank Revealed
Posted by: Celios on Friday, May 07, 2004 - 01:32 AM
The final vehicle for T:V has been revealed: the jump tank. The tank supports two people, with a main cannon controllable by the pilot which will fire a mortar-like round and the auxiliary turrets controllable by the gunner.

Perhaps the most interesting feature is the tank's ability to jump into the air. Though this jump will not be sustained and is no where near as effective as jetting, it allows the vehicle to make it across obstacles that would have stopped it otherwise (ie. a river.)

Furthermore, the devs seem to be leaving a lot of decisions up to the beta right now with virtually all the minor details riding on player reaction. We can only wait and see whether these choices will help balance the gameplay or lead us to a UT2K4 rehash.

Check out the screenshot.
