Looks like fun. I hadn't heard of it until you posted - maybe I'll pick it up. I wonder how easy modding it will be because I miss Siege with a passion. A PASSION!!!
I should probably find out what gametypes it comes with... |

Judging by the XBOX demo, I'd give this game a moderate rating - which is saying a lot considering I was using a controller (I hate controllers for FPS games), the demo had only one map, most of the deployables and vehicles were locked out, AND i could only play against bots.
That said, I bet the PC version would be pretty fun. If I learn that they'll be releasing modding tools then I'll definitely pick this game up. Otherwise, I'm on the fence until I learn more or know people who are playing it. |

According to the forums they'll be releasing an 'SDK' - which I think is code for UnrealEd and hopefully UnrealScript for the game. That was the push I was waiting for - I decided to buy the game (direct2download) and it's incredibly entertaining. I hear it's a somewhat rocky start for the PC side because people are having troubles setting up dedicated servers, and the servers are randomly crashing on map change.
Still, I haven't had 1 crash yet (just some disconnects) and the game runs quite smoothly on my machine. I wish the knife had more range (yeah yeah, i miss my shocklance), but I'm glad there's such a strong benefit to teaming up. You're 10 times more likely to succeed if you're out there fighting with your squad or coordinating attacks and you're rewarded for working with a team.
Using this name (Kaleden) because Za`arok has too many issues signing up (damn illegal characters) |

If you're looking for a clan for this game, visit http://www.vagclan.freeforums.org/. I'm still sitting on the fence here because the developers for this game seem to be more biased towards pleasing the xbox crowd (demo is only available for them on Live). I just want to know that it isn't difficult to find a server that's full or near full.
BTW, I'm known as G.Signal in the clan. |

Unfortunately, it's hard to say how full the game is because I can't see full servers. That said, I can always jump into a game with 15+ people on it and if I wait for a couple minutes, I can usually find a 31/32 person game (and may get lucky enough to join).
There's also a problem with Games for Windows Live and player-ran dedicated servers that needs to be fixed because they will occasionally fail during a map change. Copies of the games should actually arrive at EBGamestops this week (a shipping 'problem' meant they weren't available for purchase the entire weekend) so there will likely be more full/near full servers available. I'll keep you informed.
Still it's a very very good game. There's a lot of team-work involved and it's possible to rate in the top 5 (scoring points for your team) without killing a single person. As with Tribes, it'll probably take a little while for the general population to understand 'how' to play the game.
Oh, and god-bless the TribesNext folk. I'll give the Clan a peek - hopefully I'll get the opportunity to frag them online. |
