Guild Wars Christmas In Guild Wars
Posted by: Celios on Friday, December 23, 2005 - 09:56 AM
On the twelfth moon of Wintersday ArenaNet gave to me...
Blessings from Dwayna
Festive decorations
One mighty snowman
Weapons made of candy
Gifts that might kill you
Snow-covered henchmen
New winter monsters
Some really long quests

Lots of drinking Dwarves
Gingerbread shields
Curses from Grenth
And a new way to watch PvP!

That's right, Observer Mode!

General Gaming Call of Duty 2 Community on Strike
Posted by: Celios on Monday, November 28, 2005 - 11:41 PM
It's somewhat amusing to hear that there's another gaming community out there that's getting the VUG-style boot. It seems that COD2, just like the original COD, is suffering from a severe lack of any anti-cheat software, patches and general developer support. Sound familiar?

In any case, the COD2 community apparently plans to run a 24 hour strike during which all the servers will be taken down. What this will actually accomplish is moot, but at least they're calling attention to what's apparently a growing problem in the industry. Read the whole article here.

General Gaming Texas Sues Sony
Posted by: Celios on Tuesday, November 22, 2005 - 01:15 AM
Some of you have probably heard recently that Sony anti-piracy software on their music CDs has started to be used in the creation of undetectable hacks and cheats for games like World of Warcraft. Well, the state of Texas has apparently launched a lawsuit against Sony under its new anti-spyware law. Hopefully this is the beginning of a crackdown on companies slipping anything and everything they want onto your computer when you install their product.

Learn more about Nika, a Guild Wars Assassin, in the Play special edition, which you will find on newsstands now."

Guild Wars Minor GW Update
Posted by: Celios on Friday, November 11, 2005 - 04:11 AM
Another Guild Wars update was put up today. Not that that's unusual, but, as Frag pointed out, there was a rather significant change in this one:

"Improved AI so that henchmen and monsters can now detect and flee from area-effect damage spells."

Depending on how effective this new code is, this looks like a pretty major nerf to the PvE fire Elemental. Who knows, maybe Air will become popular in PvE now too.
