Tribes 2 Tribes2Maps.com Reopens
Posted by: Celios on Friday, March 25, 2005 - 05:20 AM
In many ways, the closure of Tribes2Maps.com was something of a symbol in the Tribes 2 community: it was the official end to an era of creativity, brilliance and just good old fashioned hard work for the benefit of the game we love. The mappers were what truly made the game go that extra mile (and, more importantly, gave us a concrete target on which we could blame our lack of skill – or so the legend goes.) As most of you know, Bytor, the original founder of the site, decided to move on in life and, rather than let the site plummet in quality, decided to take it down entirely. There were several offers to take it off his hands, but all of them fell through until very recently. Sfphinx, (known for his spawngraph wizardry in T2 mapping circles) recently took the reigns of the massive site and plans to fully restore it to its previous glory. Needless to say, this will be a large undertaking though, by the looks of it, he seems to be up to the task. Feel free to check out the site’s reopening at - where else? - Tribes2Maps.com.

Have you missed Siege competition? Would you be interested in the possibility of it coming back? If you fall into this category, I'd like to ask that you read this over.

Please keep in mind, this has been neither approved or even proposed in any official manner. This is simply a method of gauging interest.

Tribes: Vengeance Winner of 2 Best of ’04 Awards
Posted by: Celios on Monday, December 20, 2004 - 07:44 AM
IGN.com recently named the winners of its Best of 2004 list which saw T:V claiming two of the awards, a very solid overall performance. The game unexpectedly beat out Half-Life 2 by winning the “Best Story” category and also received something of a mixed blessing by receiving the title of “Best Game No One Played”. There is still hope, however, that the fast approaching Christmas season will see sales pick up, particularly now that T:V has been acknowledged as a realistic gift option. Feel free to check out the rest of the awards here.

Many Tribes fans have been eagerly awaiting this patch, which is rumored to bring the Clan Tag system online at last, among other important changes. Confirmed fixes include the patching of map holes, “various” fixes and a long-awaited confirmation that anti-cheat support is in the making courtesy of PunkBuster Online Countermeasures. Needless to say, this news couldn’t have come at a better time.
