Tribes: Vengeance Beta Getting the Boot
Posted by: Celios on Saturday, September 25, 2004 - 01:37 AM
Menzo dropped a note on TribalWar today about the multiplayer beta. Here's what he had to say:

I think we're going to send an email out to everyone about this, but we are going to be turning off the multiplayer beta when the multiplayer demo is released. We really want people to convert their servers as quickly as possible and don't want the community to be split.

The demo will not be held exclusively anywhere and we'll be giving it to as many mirrors as possible as soon as possible. In fact, our web team has been experimenting with BitTorrent stuff so we'll likely host a seed for it at launch as well (we did that with the SP demo).

Everyone will need to download the demo - it's roughly the same size as the beta was.

General Gaming Thrax Leaves Sierra
Posted by: Celios on Sunday, September 19, 2004 - 03:27 AM
With Sierra closing it's doors for good, the time has come to part with yet another company who's death comes surprisingly close to the release of a Tribes game (for those of you who don't know - shame on you - the beloved Dynamix was sacked right after T2 went gold.)

This also means that Thrax has been officially layed off from Sierra. Whether you liked him or not, it's sad to see one of the few remaining Tribes players working on the series out the door.

You can check out Thrax's thread on TW here.

The long-awaited T:V map editor has finally been released. TribesEd is the T:V map editor which enables users to edit maps and other vital aspects of T:V. Mojo is a cut-scene editing tool (something like Flash with 3D characters instead of 2D tweens.) These are both unsupported tools. Please use at your own risk.

Get it all here.
